Work commenced on the new building at St. Bartholomew’s on Monday 16th November. It is hard to believe that this day has come after so many years in the planning stages, but the evidence is there for all to see.
The contractors, Farringtons, are proving very co-operative, so if you have any issues with access or anything else as the project develops over the next six months, just let them or a churchwarden know. Access to the church will be by the main door whilst building is going on.
With the work underway, the PCC continues to focus on paying for it. Grants have been sought, and £7,500 has also been received from the Allchurches Trust. Nevertheless, there is a way to go if the parish reserves are not to be completely consumed. In these difficult times, fundraising activities are difficult to organise, so if you feel able to support us in any way, please let the PCC Treasurer know, as he will be only too pleased to hear from you.
It has only been possible to get to this point through the generosity of two or three significant donations and the wider support from The Friends of Waldron Churches. The FoWC Committee has allocated £50,000 from our accumulated funds to this project. We heartily thank everyone who has already helped us thus far and we look forward to the day in 2021 when we shall be enjoying a cup of tea (or something stronger) as the doors of the new building open to all in our community.
The latest architectural plans for the project are attached for your interest. If you have any questions, please contact one of the churchwardens.
Wishing you and your family and friends a happy and healthy season.
